Know the open house safety protocols

If you plan to host an open house this weekend be sure you’re following the protocols and guidelines set out by WorkSafeBC and the Real Estate Council of BC. Click here to read the open house safety guidelines issued on July 7.

These safety practices focus on documenting consent, enforcing public health protocols, and employing enhanced cleaning and hygiene practices. These include:

  • documenting your client’s consent to hold the open house and to the agreed safety procedures
  • limiting the open house to serious buyers using technology to pre-screen them
  • requiring that attendees wear masks and other personal protection equipment when appropriate
  • keeping two metres or six feet of physical distance between everyone in attendance at all times
  • using marked signage and instructions, at all entrances and elsewhere, that remind attendees to follow required health protocols
  • employing sanitary protocols after each open house
  • keeping a log of visitors for contact tracing

Watch our video below, featuring 2018 Professional Excellence Award winner Josh Bath, that walks you through safety protocols you should consider.

Here’s an article about this change that you can share with your clients. This public-facing article will help your clients understand what to expect at an open house today. You can also share this article that outlines seven things consumers can expect when attending an open house today.

Open house signage

We’ve developed signage you can use to guide open house attendees. These posters are intended to cover Council’s signage recommendations.

These include:

  • Reminders to wash your hands and keep physical distance
  • Instructions to "look not touch"
  • Guidelines on who can enter

July housing market report coming on Wednesday

We’re releasing our monthly MLS® market report for July on Wednesday morning.

As always, we’ll be sending this report to all members and posting it on our Facebook page, REBGV.org, and Realtylink.org. Keep an eye on your inbox and share it with your clients.

Remember to update your old links to avoid Paragon access issues

Clariety, the login provider for Paragon and other Board services, did a security update earlier this month to enhance the integrity of our MLS® platform.

If you’re using links that you created, or bookmarked, before the security update, you’ll see a warning message when you try to log in to Paragon. Depending on the web browser you use, this warning may say "Your connection is not private", or "Potential security risk ahead".

How to access Paragon

You can always access Paragon by logging in through the link in the REALTOR® toolbox at rebgv.ca or by using this address: https://bcres.paragonrels.com/.

To avoid receiving error messages, please update your old links and bookmarks to Paragon.

If you have questions or issues, please call our Helpdesk at 604-730-3020.

Realtors helping our communities!

Stories about the charitable spirit within the Realtor community were recently featured in the Georgia Straight.

REBGV Chair Colette Gerber was interviewed for the article. The story highlights different ways Realtors across the Lower Mainland are making a difference in their communities, including details about our REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive and Shelter Drive programs as well as a number of good deeds you’ve been doing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We’ve also shared several stories through social media about the work you’ve been doing to help our communities of late, including raising food for those who need it most and providing masks and personal protective equipment to health care workers.

Do you have a story to share? Tell us about it at fyouatt@rebgv.org.

Keep up the great work!
